Mr. Goddy Akpama, a Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Cross River declares that the North must complete its 8 years as Governor of the state.
Speaking yesterday the in a gathering that marks the birthday celebration of Hon. Martins Orim, the Chief of staff of Cross River State Government, Mr. Akpama insist that the North must complete it’s years in office.
One will recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in December 2018 published names of governorship candidates of various political parties ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The political parties and candidates in contention in Cross River State are APC (John Owan Eno), PDP (Ben Ayade) and SDP (Eyo Ekpo).
Of all the candidates published by INEC, only Ben Ayade of the PDP hails from the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State.
Mr. Akpama’s remark lean a voice to the numerous discern of many Cross Riverians who are chiding the APC for failing to retain its governorship mandate in Northern Cross River.
Mr. Akpama further announced his unresolved intention to be governor of Cross River State when it gets to the turn of the central to fill the position of Governor.
In his words ” I’m from Yakurr Local Government Area (LGA) being part of the Central Senatorial District in Cross River, my mum is from Obudu which is part of the North and wife is equally from the North, I know that I will be governor one day, it’s not the turn of the Central to produce the Governor of the State, but when it’s the turn of the central, I will be governor, He submitted.
The gathering also witnessed a large turn out of guest, notably among them is RT. Hon John Gual Lebo, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly and some of his colleagues, Hon. Legor Idagbo, a member of the National Assembly, Honourable Commissioners and some members of the Cross River State Executive Council.
