It was in total submission to the supremacy of God and His faithfulness , that the top echelon of Rivers State Government led by Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike gathered at the Government House Chapel of Everlasting Grace on December 31, 2018 where they praised the Almighty into 2019.
The Government House Chapel of Everlasting Grace Choir led a spirit lifting praise and worship session that brought down the presence of God.
Governor Wike, his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike and the Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo worshipped God in dancing and singing, appreciating God for his unending defence of Rivers State. Also in attendance were the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Adama Iyaye-Laminkanra and the President, Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Christy Gabriel Nwankwo.
Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Religious Matters, Bishop Winston Iwo declared that if not for the the Grace of God and his protection, Rivers State would have been swallowed up by the forces of darkness.
He said: “When the enemies rose in diverse ways against Governor Wike, God stood by him. God will receive the glory for helping Governor Wike to deliver in the midst of adversity. We say thank you God.
“It is by the Grace of God that Governor Wike has done all these in 2018. As we enter 2019, we are confident that God will do more for Rivers State. We lift Rivers and place it in God’s hand. He will keep the state and do wonderful works in 2019”.
The first Bible Reading from Exodus 12: 1-14 was taken by the Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, while the second reading from Luke 4: 14-22 was taken by Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry Banigo.
There was another session of prayers that focused on the blessing of God in the lives of the people of Rivers State. The congregation prayed for God’s blessing and favour in 2019.
This prayer session was led by the Chaplain of the Government House Port Harcourt Chapel of Everlasting Grace, Venerable Sunday Opara
Declarations were made for God to ensure that Rivers People eat the good of the land, with doors of investments opened for the state in the New Year.
Joining faith with the governor, the leaders spoke peace and security on Rivers State, where they stated that the peace of Rivers State will enhance development.
For Nigeria, the leaders of Rivers State prayed God to grant the desire of Nigerians to end the suffering by using 2019 to raise a New leadership at the Federal Level.
In Rivers State, the leaders of Rivers State prayed to God for continuity, because they are satisfied with the projects of Governor Wike.
They prayed for credible elections devoid of manipulation by INEC and the security agencies.
In his sermon, Anglican Bishop of Evo Diocese, Rt Rev Innocent Ordu said that God will be with the people in 2019 and the people will swim through the year.
He said in 2019, challenges will manifest, but God will take total control, protecting the people all through. He urged the people to approach 2019 with confidence.
Bishop Ordu said that to merit God’s blessing in 2019, people should use the year to add value to humanity and improve the society. He said as people receive the graces of God, they should bear fruits for God and mankind.
Rivers State, he said, will need fruit bearing professionals, civil servants, top government officials and key stakeholders to sustain progress.
As we approached 2019 in God’s glorious blessing, the oldest Choir Member, Amaopusenibo Martindale Mac-Pepple led a string of songs that inspired the congregation.
Speaking on behalf of the Rivers State Governor, Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry Banigo said in 2019 God will silence the enemies of the state as the election will end miraculously in favour of Governor Wike.
The governor said that he will continue to deliver projects and be committed to the interest of Rivers State.
Governor Wike urged the people to continue to support his administration as it works for them.
Then came 2019 and Governor Wike led all the top government officials in the exchange of traditional New Year best wishes.
Anglican Bishop of Evo Diocese, Rt Rev Innocent Ordu offered the first prayer in 2019, declaring the blessing of God on Rivers State , Governor Wike and her people.
