An 80-year-old gunman has been found dead after he allegedly shot two people in a San Francisco suburb, according to reports.
A man and woman were shot at an apartment complex in Mill Valley, California
, on Thursday afternoon by a man police described as ‘armed and dangerous’.
Both victims were transported to the hospital where the woman reportedly died.
Less than two hours after the shooting police were seen breaking down a door at the complex, where they discovered the elderly gunman had been killed by an apparent gunshot wound.
Just before 3:30pm deputies responded to reports of shots fired at the apartment complex found a man and a woman with possible gunshot wounds.
A witness told NBC Bay Area that the two victims were a father and daughter who were landlords of the complex.
The shooter was described as an approximately 80-year-old Hispanic or Filipino man about 5’2″ and wearing a white T-shirt.
‘First deputies on scene grabbed the two victims and carried them out of the scene to waiting ambulances,’ Marin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brenton Schneider told CBS.
‘Once they had the victims secure they started doing evacuations of all the apartments surrounding the apartment that we are currently fixated on.’
Aerial footage shows residents of the complex evacuating with their hands above their heads.
At around 5pm a SWAT team set up explosives at the door of an apartment that the suspect had been seen fleeing to.
None of the names have been released and the condition of the male victim is unknown.
